A Telescope Guide and Review
Astronauts make various common mistakes when they decide to buy a telescope and more so the beginners. There are some key points that the astronauts should consider which they forget to and instead get into a random shop and buy a telescope. A packaging of a telescope may look appealing by the look because of the images drawn on the package like Jupiter or Saturn but when you start using the telescope it might not meet the promises because of poor design and cheap optics. Good and quality telescopes always meet someone’s desires and expectations. There are very many things you should look for when buying a telescope either for the first time or just a replacement of the current one which you possess. Below is a guide before you buy a telescope
The aperture is always the first thing to look for in a telescope. The lenses or mirror size is called the aperture and it helps in focusing light from far distance objects. If a telescope does not have a good size aperture then the images will be of low quality. If you have a telescope with good size of the aperture then the images will be very clear. A good telescope is not determined by the magnification rather it is determined by the aperture. Sometimes telescopes are just advertised by the use of a magnification but you should have the knowledge to know that a large magnification on a too small telescope will give a blurry image.
Light reflection in a telescope is done by the mirror while the refraction is done by a lense. Telescopes of a smaller size use lenses while the telescopes of larger sizes use mirrors and it is the best option for you. If you want to view terrestrial or celestial images you should use refracting lenses. The telescopes with reflecting mirrors are not designed to be used for viewing sailing boats, landscapes or birds. If you want to only view the heavens then a telescope with reflecting mirrors should be the best option for you. When using reflecting mirrors, you will not be affected by the chromatic aberration where various colours are not brought to the same sharp focus. If you want a nice viewing always put your telescope facing the right direction At night when viewing objects, you will notice that objects are moving and this is because of the earth rotating on its own axis.
Avoid buying telescopes in stores, streets and camera stores with caution. Shops with the best and experienced astronomy are the best for the buying of a telescope. Compared to other manufactures, telescope manufactures produce telescopes of a high quality. You can always request the seller of a telescope to allow you test the telescope.
